Full time Job and indie game developer
Hello and welcome back everyone.
How is it possible to do indie game development effectively, while having a full time job?
How to manage time and resources, how to make progress on your game and not letting down your family and friends?
In this article I will talk about how I do it.
Full time job
First of all it is crucial to be consistent with your work at your full time job and hold your productivity at a high level on your daily basis.
While your full time job gives you the money you need for your life, it also creates the opportunity to work on your indie game without worrying about financial success on your game to much.

While you are putting your heart and soul into your game, it is important that you don’t run out of energy and creative potential. Keeping your main job and your indie game development healthy balanced is the key to success.
That leads to the next topic: time management.
In order to succeed, you need to find out what is the best time horizon where you can get the development done. For some of us it is the evening, some can achieve more when they work early in the morning.
If you find yourself to exhausted in the evening, you should definitely try the early morning work. There are scientists who are saying, that the first two morning hours are the most productive and creative hours of the whole day.
You might ask yourself how many hours should you work in a row? Well, in my opinion about 2 hours are perfect for super focused work. But I think you have to find out which amount of time works best for you.
Generally said, it is better to work 1 or 2 hours every day, than doing 8 hours on Saturday for instance. Consistentsy is the key. But how can you be consistent?
Habits and routines
Motivation gets you started, good habits keep you going. Try to develop routines, build habits that help you to improve your efficiency. They will make it easier for you, to keep up with your daily schedule.
